The new six-lane bridge over the Detroit River between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, is part of a new road transportation network that includes associated border checkpoints and connections to the Ontario and Michigan highway networks. This project will provide a significant additional crossing option in one of the busiest Canada-U.S. commercial border crossings. Contractors applying for the Gordie Howe Bridge project demand more time WDBA has also hosted Industry Days in Windsor and Detroit. Industry Days provided an opportunity for potential respondents to meet and network with local, regional and national contractors, suppliers and service providers.

Industry Days also provided an opportunity for local businesses to introduce themselves to potential private sector advocates in the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. The Gordie Howe International Bridge is a six-lane bridge on the Detroit River that connects the city of Detroit to Windsor, Ontario. Once completed, the 1.5-mile crossing will be the longest dubbly bridge in North America with a main span of 0.53 miles. The bridge will also have a pedestrian and bicycle lane nearly 12 feet wide. The project also includes the construction of new ports of entry connecting U.S. and Canadian bridge terminals, as well as subsequent connections to I-75 in southwest Detroit. .
